Aptana Studio Help > Getting Started > Transferring Files with FTP/SFTP

Uploading or downloading a file or folder

This page describes how to upload or download a file or folder between your local hard drive and a remote FTP site.

Prerequisite: Set up a connection to your remote web site (Adding an SFTP/FTP site, Adding a site connection).

Instructions

To upload or download a file or folder between a local and a remote site:

  1. In the File or Project View, right-click on the file(s) or folder(s) that you want to upload or download.
  2. From the context menu, select Synchronize > Upload... or Synchronize > Download...
  3. If Aptana Studio asks you to select a connection, choose the site connection that you want to use.

Aptana Studio will upload or download the files between the sites as you specified.

You can also use the hotkey shortcut CTRL+Shift+U to automatically upload the currently active file or CTRL+Shift+D to automatically download the currently active file.

Note: The hotkeys are provided by an EclipseMonkey script and may conflict with existing key bindings. The remedy is generally removing the binding in General ‘¹ Keys for Show Occurances in File Quick Menu.
